Is climate change on Mars man-made??

Hi Grit

I have read an interesting report from Nasa today. There scientists have revealed evidence that, in the past thirty years, global warming on Mars has increased by approximately the same level as it has on earth, 0.5 degrees.

One researcher believes that it is due to the fact that variences in radiation and temperatures are causing strong winds, which is trapping heat, thus warming the planet.

However, apart from one response to the article, which suggested it was due to the fact that Nasa was drag racing their “rovers” up there, no-one appears to be blaming this on man or martian “green” men causes.

It is, they suggest, a natural phenomena. It makes you wonder, although I am sure that there are many who will not see a link between natural phenomena on Mars and Earth.

it seems that would be common sense. but i suppose there is a lack of common sense in the world today.

    Hi Mz

As you rightly say, common sense is sadly lacking :-)

    Hi Brit,

I find it interesting that you didn’t pin the Martian warming on solar activity, as many skeptics have in the past. There really are no simliarities between warming on Mars and our current warming. They are two completely different planets with different orbits, distances from the Sun, atmospheres, etc.

    Hi reasic,

Of course there are similarities. Both planets, it is claimed, have warmed by the roughly the same amount at roughly the same time. The important difference seem to be the lack of cow farts on Mars.

I would like to know more about contriversial pictures of structures on mars. Recently released images, have given rise to theories that there was once an intellectual influence on the surface of mars

    Hi Jim,

I’m glad to know someone besides me is interested in that since I’m planning a post on the subject. As I understand it, some of the new photos from one of the rovers have some unusual things in them. It may take a day or two to get ready, as I want to find some old satellite pictures to go along with the new stuff. Stay tuned.
