Congress Hot On Climate Change
Hi Brit,
While our politicians can’t figure out how to protect us from invading illegal immigrants, it looks like they have no difficulty squandering time and tax dollars in an effort to shield us from Global Warming. First, to save time, instead of waiting for proof they are going to legislate the laws of nature, House passes bill affirming global warming exists. It will be most interesting to see if the Courts agree that this is within their jurisdiction. However, even though they have proclaimed it as fact, that’s not stopping them from throwing $26.7 billion into research on the subject; a bribe which should sway more of the scientific community to their side.
Meanwhile, the Senate, which often approaches things with a more long term view, is in the initial stages of solving the Global Warming problem with one well aimed blow, Key U.S. senators reach deal on CO2 emissions. They are working out the details of a scheme to cap CO2 emissions, and force businesses into a ruinous carbon trading scam. Of course, this will devastate our economy and throw us into a depression. Thus, with most everyone broke, the number of greenhouse gas belching vehicles on the roads will almost none. Coal burning power plants will be closed, since the needs of the few who can afford electricity can be provided by clean sources. No planes, trains, cars, trucks, or burning coal – Paradise on earth.
Oh, and if you are wondering where that research money is going, it’s to projects like this, How Farm Odors Contribute to Global Warming: New Research Happening in NYS. We the people are spending $20 million to find out how much methane is released from rotting piles of cow crap. If I thought Homeland Security had a sense of humor, I’d mail Pelosi and Reid some samples.

Interesting, isn’t it, how quickly that bill got passed?
Yes, Paradise on earth, for some nations that “pretend” to care about global warming, and talks the talk but in the end don’t keep the agreement they would like US to do. So, I figure we’ll be carless, they’ll be fine.
Interesting note on the Farm Odors, “when you smell cow manure, you’re also smelling greenhouse gas emissions.”
Well gas emissions is, as the article states, Methane. I don’t wish to split hairs, but methane is odorless.
Just to let you know, I had to be different, and over on Boz and Oz I blogged on Global Cooling » http://johndolphin.net/bozandoz/2007/06/28/sunspots-global-cooling
Oh, and Grit, I’d love to see what you would tell our first commenter to that particular blog.
